Tasmania Severe Weather Event - October 2022

Recovery supports

On 13-14 October 2022, exceptionally heavy rainfall impacted across North-West and Northern Tasmania, causing severe flooding in some communities.

Floods are traumatic and overwhelming events that can affect everyone in the community, inundating homes, and causing disruption and damage to businesses, farmers, properties, infrastructure and the environment.

If you have been affected by this event, the following information is specifically for you, to assist you and your community in getting back on your feet.

Financial support

It has now been nearly twelve months since the severe weather event in October 2022 and most of the emergency response grants for this event have now closed.

Applications for the Primary Producer Emergency Response Grant (Tier 2) will remain open until 30 April 2024. This funding is only available to those who have been approved for Tier 1 funding in the Program. The Australian Government's Disaster Recovery Allowance and Disaster Recovery Payment for this event have now closed. Information on Australian Government Natural Disaster Assistance for people directly affected by a natural disaster in Tasmania, such as fires, storms or floods is available here.
