Information and Assistance
Residents and property owners impacted by fire can get help with Emergency Assistance Grants and other support in the following places during business hours:
- Break O’Day Council offices: 4 Georges Bay Esplanade, St Helens
- Service Tasmania office: 65 Cecilia St, St Helens
- St Helens Neighbourhood House: 25 Circassian St, St Helens
If possible, please bring your photo identification, such as a Drivers Licence, or two other forms of identification. Bookings not required.

Emergency Assistance Grants
Emergency Assistance Grants are now available to residents impacted by the St Helens and Surrounds Bushfires, including fire displaced residents of:
- Stieglitz
- Parkside
- Parnella
Emergency Assistance Grants assist people who have been directed or advised to evacuate from their residence, have been displaced or isolated by bushfires, to obtain essential and appropriate shelter, clothing, food, transport and/or personal items.
Grant funds available are:
- $250 per adult (over 18 years);
- $125 per dependent child (under 18 years); and
- a maximum of $1,000 for any one family.
